New Business Hosting Plan

Added to our standard plan offering is a new bundle with increased bandwidth and storage – suitable for higher traffic sites. The Business Hosting Plan will be a good choice for users wanting to set up sites with frequent visitors, like forums or social sites. It will also be suitable for ecommerce sites with a larger inventory and sales volume. Here are the headline figures:

  • Diskspace: 600MB
  • Bandwidth: 4GB/month
  • Sub Domains: 6
  • Domain Aliases: 2
  • Users / Email Accounts: 30
  • MySQL 5 Databases: 2

The cost? We think it’s good value at £105.00 p.a. For more details see our Hosting Plans page.

Protecting a Directory

You can limit access to files on your site by requiring users to type a password to gain access. When users attempt to access a file in a protected directory, the Web server displays a login window. Users with access privileges can enter their user names and passwords to access the directory. Users without access privileges cannot gain access and will see an error page. An example of a directory that should be protected is the /awstats directory – you may not wish everyone to see that access statistics for your website. Read More

Why does my new account use 20MB already?

Every new account will have some files already installed in it, and these take up about 20MB. The biggest set of files is for the webmail application (SquirrelMail) which takes up about 17MB. If you do not intend to use webmail, and would like to reclaim this disk space, please contact support asking for webmail to be disabled. The other files are for web statistics, scripts etc and should not be deleted.
