Email client settings

Written on September 5, 2007 – 1:02 am | by admin

You can use a wide variety of email clients to send and receive messages for addresses in your domain. They should normally be configured to use IMAP, but POP is also supported.

  • Incoming Mail Server (or POP server): mail.yourdomain.com
  • Outgoing Mail Server (or SMTP Server): mail.yourdomain.com
  • Username: yourname@yourdomain.com

In order to send email you must make sure any setting in your email client saying “my server requires authentication”, or similar, is enabled, otherwise sent mail will probably fail.

Instructions for specfic clients:

Apple Mail:

If you use IMAP, in the Preferences > Accounts > Advanced tab, set IMAP Path Prefix to ‘mail’ (without the quotes)
